Hungary Prepares For 2021 World Aquatics Championships With Grandiose Plan
According to Hungarian Swimming Association, there are plans that the diving event of the 2021 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest will be held in a special location near the Chain bridge. The idea is to make the top of the bridge a diving board and let athletes dive into a swimming pool floating underneath the bridge.
The idea is being raised by leading government commissioner of National Sports Centres László Vigh at a meeting with FINA vice-President Tamás Gyárfás and international federation ( FINA ) Executive Director Cornel Marculescu who made a short visit in Hungary.
Hungarian Swimming Association said, the Government Commissioner believes that by holding the diving event on the Danube river allows the media to broadcast stunningly beautiful images of the event with backgrounds of the Hungarian Parliament and the Castle district.
FINA president said a similar solution was being contemplated this year’s World Cup in Kazan, Russia, so FINA was open to this solution and also supports the idea that Hungary soon join the World Cup series.
The final decision to be taken jointly by the organizing committee of the event and FINA after assessing all aspects of the proposal.
