Hungary’s foreign minister: Western Europe in ‘state of naivety’

Budapest, September 16 (MTI) – Western Europe is in a “state of naivety” because over the past year while Europe has failed to find the common solutions western European politicians have been advocating, terrorism has infiltrated the continent, Hungary’s foreign minister told the daily Magyar Hírlap on Friday.

Péter Szijjártó said EU leaders today are pursuing dangerous policies which he said also threaten the bloc’s security. He said security had to be the focal point of every European policy because “terrorism has infiltrated Europe”. The influx of migrants into Europe has tremendously weakened public security on the continent, he added.

Szijjártó said Europe’s biggest asset was its unity, adding, however, that EU leaders advocate unity in words only. When they want something, that goal has to be supported by every member state, but if another country wants something then that is considered undermining the EU’s unity, Szijjártó argued.
