Hungarian lawmakers pass public procurement law
Budapest, December 6 (MTI) – Parliament on Tuesday passed a public procurement law obliging public bodies to seek three separate offers for public procurements worth over 1 million forints (EUR 3,200).
The law passed with 112 votes in favour and 59 against.
The law authorises the government to exempt them from the obligation of public procurement if, due to the nature of goods and services concerned, the public procurement procedure would not promote the effective use of public monies.
Under the new law, bidders found to have grossly violated public procurement or concession contracts are excluded from the bidding process for 90 days.
