The European technological clusters – Budapest on a top list again

As mmonline.hu reports, Budapest is in the 7^th place on the list of CBRE. The estate consultancy examines the technological industry of the continent and its main centres in its report: The European technological clusters. London is the first among the 35 examined cities, followed by Paris, Berlin, Munich and Madrid. The report shows the fast developing, potential technological cities of the future, such as Budapest, Bucharest or Istanbul.

According to the European technological clusters survey of CBRE, London, Paris and Berlin are the most significant technological centres of Europe. After the three capitals come Munich, Madrid and Dublin then Budapest in on the 7^th place. At least 40,000 employees work at large technological companies in each of the 35 examined cities. In London, which leads the list, there are 430,000 of them, and every fifth worker is working in this area. Nearly 100,000 employees work for the companies in the ICT sector in Budapest, who rent the 15% of the modern office buildings of the city.

The most important statements of the CBRE report

The technological sector has increased the number of their employees a lot faster than other branches of industry of office-working corporations and it will perform above average in the future, too. This is true for Western-European cities like Berlin, Dublin, London, Munich and Vienna as well as for Budapest, Bucharest and Istanbul among the catching up fast developing cities.

The number of the office buildings rented by technological corporations in several European cities has increased to more than 16% by 2016 compared to the 10% before the economic world crisis in 2008-2009 beating the increase of the bank and finance sector.

The most patent requests arrive to the European Patent Office from London, Munich and Paris.

Some technological centres attracted the companies of certain sub-sectors. The ratio of companies dealing with digital advertisement for example in Berlin is outstanding similarly to the participation of IT services on the office market of Budapest.

“London and Paris are the leading technological markets of Europe and the demand of the significant renting circle drive the office market. At the same time there are several other significant and appealing technological locations on the continent according to the report of CBRE such as Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and Budapest belonging to the top ten. Besides the top 20 cities Cologne, Torino and Utrecht employ people in a high degree and according to our expectations Lyon and Zurich will increase the number of their technological employees faster than any other markets.” –said Richard Holberton, research director of CBRE.
