US basketball player Yvonne Turner becomes Hungarian citizen
The 29-year old player of Uniqa Sopron Yvonne Turner took the Hungarian citizenship oath on Monday and is ready to play in the Hungarian national team.
Turner has a contract with Uniqa Sopron until 2019 reported the women’s division of the club.
By acquiring Hungarian citizenship, the 179 cm tall player’s national status in the Euroleague has changed from US to European, which takes effect in the 2017/18 season.
Turner is the second US basketball player that acquired Hungarian citizenship in recent months. In November, Courtney Vandersloot received Hungarian citizenship, who since then debuted in the national team against Portugal in European Championships qualifiers the last month.
