The Pesti Vigadó is reopened and renewed
The venue of the exhibition is the renovated building of Vigadó in Pest. There are three rooms full of objects on display. One of the main attractions of the exhibition is presented in a separate room: the model of the Church of St. Michael’s Struggle in Upper Christina Town, Budapest (which is yet to be realised).
According to Makovecz.hu, the architect designed almost 500 buildings out of which more or less 250 were built.
Out of these buildings, the Hagymatikum Bath and Spa in Makó and the Stephaneum (the main lecture hall) of the campus of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Pázmány University in Piliscsaba are one of the most well-known works of the architect.
Makovecz in one of his writings says “architects must make this step, the spiritualisation of nature”. This sentence also illustrates well the philosophy of architecture with which he is associated the most: organic architecture.
