Average gross wages up by more than 10 percent in Hungary – latest figures

The average gross wage in Hungary rose 10.4pc year-on-year to HUF 668,100 (EUR 1660) in January, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Monday show.
KSH says that net wages climbed at the same pace to HUF 444,300 (EUR 1100).
Real wages rose 4.6pc, calculated with a January CPI of 5.5pc.
The gross median wage increased by 9.3pc to HUF 539,500 (EUR 1340).
From January 1, 2025, Hungary’s statutory monthly minimum wage was raised by 9pc to HUF 290,800 (EUR 722) for unskilled labourers and by 7pc to HUF 348,800 (EUR 866) for skilled workers.
Excluding the 63,800 Hungarians working full-time in fostered work programmes—who earned an average gross of HUF 142,900 (EUR 355) in January—the average gross monthly wage was HUF 678,900 (EUR 1686).
The average gross wage in the business sector, which includes state-owned companies, rose 9.9pc to HUF 672,100. The average gross salary in the public sector climbed 11.6pc to HUF 698,900. In the non-profit sector, the average gross wage increased 11.8pc to HUF 694,000.
