Balaton water quality is excellent and almost at 20 degrees

The official bathing season begins very soon on Lake Balaton, the water quality is great and the temperature is getting closer and closer to 20 degrees, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu reports.

The water quality of Balaton is very good, the annual inspection revealed. 127 out of the 136 designated beaches were deemed ‘excellent’, 7 of them ‘good’, and only two beaches received lower ratings. The water at the Koloska Marina beach in Balatonfüred was judged to be ‘acceptable’, while the Club Hotel Badacsony in Badacsonytomaj was deemed ‘poor’.

Most of the beaches are open all year round, and can be used as public beaches. The official opening actually means that the beaches are no longer free.

On Monday, the water was measured to be 124 cm, which is very high for this part of the year, and 18 degrees, which means it might reach the magical limit of 20 degrees over the weekend, when, according to a new custom, the bathing season begins. Local towns held the “Day of the Balaton” celebration for the first time last year, on the Saturday following the day when the temperature of the lake reached 20 degrees. The message of the event is that Lake Balaton warms up more quickly than the Croatian beaches.
