The world’s most prestigious gastronomy competition will be held in Budapest on May 10-11, when 20 national winners will compete to represent Europe in the world event in 2017, the director of gastronomy events of GL Events Exhibitions told a press conference. Chefs will each have 5 hours and 35 minutes to prepare before an audience and jury a meat and a fish dish reflecting the culinary values of their own country as well as their own technical skills, said GL Events Exhibitions gastronomy director Florent Suplisson.
Zoltan Hamvas, the head of the Hungarian Bocuse d’Or Academy, noted that Budapest, which is now home to an increasing number of Michelin starred restaurants, won the right to host the event taking place at the Hungexpo centre ahead of London, Vienna and Lodz.
Hungary first took part in the Bocuse d’Or in 2013, when Tamas Szell was ranked 10th in the world.
