Brad Pitt was spotted putting the pedal to the metal in Hungary
Brad Pitt was seen by fans in Hungary shooting his new blockbuster, Apex. Earlier, he was spotted in Silverstone, but it appears that the filming continues in Hungary.
Index reported that the Hollywood actor has started filming his new Formula 1 flick, which will allegedly be titled Apex, in Silverstone. The movie will tell the story of Sonny Hayes (played by Brad Pitt) who is a retired racer working on making a comeback. During the process, he crosses paths with the upcoming rising star of the racing world, Joshie Pearce (played by Damson Idris). To see the rest of the plot unfold, we will have to wait until the release date.
A realistic approach
For making the film as realistic as possible, the staff has sought help from professionals. Toto Wolf, the Team Principal of Mercedes revealed that he has been giving a helping hand to the production team and the Hollywood actors. The Austrian professional wants the movie to ring true. Lewis Hamilton also plays a key role in the production as he’s one of the co-producers. Hamilton has won seven World Drivers’ Championship titles, which makes him one of the best Formula 1 drivers in the world. Toto Wolff has confessed that everyone enjoys working together and do their best to create something worthwhile.
The setting
To ensure the realistic touch, the staff uses real Formula 1 circuits. Photos were recently leaked showing a fictional team with its own garage in the pit lane between Ferrari and Mercedes. The filming began at the recent British Grand Prix. The team featured in the film received a separate garage in the paddock. Brad Pitt and his teammate, the Oscar-winner Damson Idris, used modified Formula 2 cars for taking laps on the Silverstone circuit. According to Toto Wolf, it was Fred Vasseur’s idea to use modified Formula 2 cars with parts from Formula 1 cars.
Hollywood actor to learn racing
During filming, the production crew obtained permission to set up their own cameras around the track to film a couple of car scenes for the movie. In addition to the Silverstone location, some scenes were also shot at Paul Ricard, the French Grand Prix venue, which is no longer part of Formula 1. Toto Wolff said:
We’ve been involved [since] pretty early [on]. When we had the first discussions, we sent Brad to a driving school in France, going through the Formula cars from F4 all the way up and we tried to be helpful with the narrative. Lewis is an executive producer, so he wanted to make sure when the movie comes out, it’s as realistic as possible.
In some scenes, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris are sitting behind the wheel, but most of the stunts are performed by professional race drivers. One of them is 2012 Formula 2 champion, Luciano Bacheta, while the other is former Super League driver Craig Dolby. They have both retired from racing, but they take part in such projects from time to time.
