Important: Thunderstorms halt flights at Budapest Airport

Budapest Airport has announced that its runways had to be closed for 20 minutes this afternoon due to thunderstorm activity. The airport management advises everyone travelling to keep an eye out for updates.

“Due to the severe thunderstorms in the vicinity of the airport, the runways of Ferenc Liszt International Airport were temporarily closed for safety reasons, and air traffic was suspended for about 20 minutes, from 14:20 to 14:40,” Budapest Airport wrote in a post on Facebook.

“Traffic is currently running without disruption. Budapest Airport will keep passengers updated with the latest information. Please monitor the company’s communication channels,” it added.
