BREAKING: Multiple Budapest Airport flights cancelled due to fire! – VIDEOS

Thankfully, the fire did not break out at Budapest Airport but at an electrical substation supplying London’s Heathrow Airport, one of the world’s busiest airgates. However, due to the accident, three British Airways flights were delayed from Budapest. Based on the latest reports, Heathrow will remain shut down until midnight.
According to BBC, several flights have been disrupted due to a fire that broke out at the North Hyde electrical substation in Hayes, close to Heathrow Airport. The substation supplies Heathrow, and the fire caused a major power outage at the airport. According to Flightradar24, more than 1,350 flights are affected.

People living close to the substation were advised to keep their doors and windows shut to avoid smoke inhalation. Furthermore, 150 people have been evacuated, 16,300 homes have lost power, and several local roads have been closed. According to the airport, they will be closed until midnight, but it is not yet known when the power will be reliably restored.

Budapest Airport affected
Due to the fire at the electrical substation, three British Airways flights from Budapest Airport have been cancelled. The first one would have taken off at 6:50 AM (BA865), the second at 1.10 PM (BA869), and the third at 6.35 PM (BA867). Based on Heathrow’s notification, flights cannot land and take off there until midnight. Utazómajom wrote that the restoration may take days.
