The Budapest Airport road renovation has begun
As a result of the decision of the Hungarian government, Nemzeti InfrastruktĂºra FejlesztÅ‘ Zrt. (NIF) and the Budapest Development Centre (BFK) started the development of the expressway leading to Budapest Airport. Preparations are underway for the time being. The aim is to improve and develop the road to Liszt Ferenc International Airport. To this end, BFK published a questionnaire.
A questionnaire helps with planning
The Budapest Development Centre launched a questionnaire in connection with the planning of the road to the airport. DĂ¡vid VitĂ©zy, the CEO of BFK, states on his Facebook page that the purpose of the questionnaire is to involve citizens in the planning. They also want to assess the needs of locals.
The current road is accident-prone and sensitive to disturbances.
A single problem or minor accident can cause hours of congestion and traffic jams. The quality of the road and thus the reach of the airport of the Hungarian capital has deteriorated year by year. “The environment of the road, which foreigners arriving in Hungary for the first time meet, is not worthy of either Budapest or Hungary,” VitĂ©zy writes. In addition, there is no preference for public transport. The cycling route also has shortcomings.
2022 is the year of preparation
NIF and BFK started jointly preparing the development of the road to Budapest Airport. A consortium of Fömterv Zrt. and Utiber Kft. won the public procurement tender. The construction plans will be completed in 2022. We can then find out the progress of the renovation work.
The goal is to create a unified, open, and modern main road.
This includes the creation of bus lanes, pedestrian as well as cycle paths. Residents and affected districts are also involved in the planning process.
Large-scale urban development investment
In order to reduce the sensitivity to interference, a uniform 2×2 band is to be built. To do this, the environment of the road network must be renewed along the entire road section. These include underpasses, overpasses, and intersections, writes airportal.hu. The road also crosses the railway network in several places. The aim of the investment is not only to make it easier to reach Budapest Airport but also to renew the entire traffic of South Pest.Â
The work runs from the line of the HatĂ¡r Ăºt metro station to the border of the capital. By filling out the questionnaire, you can help the work of the designers until November 5th.
