Ferenc Liszt International Airport has won the award for best airport in Eastern Europe for the seventh time in 2020. The Skytrax award, handed out at the World Airport Awards, is one of the greatest accolades in the industry, as it is decided by passengers themselves, based on tens of thousands of evaluations from across the world.
Every year, the Skytrax award is decided completely independently from airports, by passengers, as part of a satisfaction survey where travelers are asked about airport services, check-in, the quality of passenger services and security standards, amongst other things. The award confirms that Budapest Airport made great progress in improving the passenger experience last year as well. Passengers clearly feel and appreciate the increase in service quality.
World Routes Marketing Awards: The marketing team of Budapest Airport became world champion!
Budapest Airport received the award for best airline marketing at the World Routes Marketing Awards 2019 held in Adelaide, Australia, based on votes cast by airlines. The airport of the Hungarian capital proved to be the best not only in its own category of airports serving passengers between 4 and 20 million per year, but the professional jury also selected BUD’s marketing in the overall category. With this result, the Hungarian airport came out ahead of gateways such as Amsterdam, Istanbul, Hong Kong, or Changi Airport of Singapore.
The award for best airline marketing is recognition of the effective campaigning activity by which Budapest Airport contributes to launching new routes and the promotion of existing ones. Budapest Airport continues to promote Hungary and its capital in the ultra-competitive market of airports and airlines.
Budapest Airport carbon neutral for the third year running
BUD was the first airport in the CEE region to attain ACI’s neutral airport carbon accreditation in 2018, which it then extended in 2019, and managed to maintain for the third year running in 2020.
This prestigious international accolade means that, together with its partners operating at the airport, the company keeps a continuous balance between energy production and consumption, fully offsetting carbon dioxide emissions. It achieves this partly with a consistent environmental strategy and partly by compensating the remaining emissions.
Investors in People: Budapest Airport is an outstanding employer!
In 2018, Budapest Airport was granted gold level accreditation from Investors in People, awarded to outstanding employers, for three years. The award is bestowed on companies that work to achieve business objectives in cooperation with employees, thus supporting the professional development of staff. Budapest Airport is the first and so far the only airport organization within continental Europe to be awarded gold level accreditation.
Whilst analyzing companies, in addition to the business structure, Investors in People places great emphasis on the role of employees. According to its principles, the development of a company can be sustainable if it actively involves employees in its work processes, besides continuously supporting and developing them. The achieving of gold level accreditation thus means that in addition to harmonizing and implementing business plans efficiently, Budapest Airport values its employees, counts on their opinions and support in the course of work.
