Budapest as seen by foreigners: these are the best videos
Countless videos have been made about Hungary, but hellomagyarok.hu has collected the best 8+1 created by vloggers. They can serve as a guide to what tourists really want to see in Budapest, and might help Hungarians to make better videos.
- SHAHAB IN BUDAPEST
Although Shahab promotes the Emirates Airlines, it’s still one of the best videos ever made of Budapest. It’s a little longer than two minutes, and the two vloggers are trying to visit all the popular sights of the city, eat in the best restaurants, and of course, visit the Széchenyi thermal bath.
- VAGABROTHERS: BUDAPEST BATHS
Hungarian baths are famous all over the world, and the second video is dedicated entirely to the thermal baths of Budapest. The city officially has eight thermal baths and all of them are of excellent quality. Which one is your favourite?
- WHAT I LEARNED: TRABANTS, TERROR AND BOBSLEDDING IN BUDAPEST
Trabant, this iconic car from the past can still be seen in some Hungarian cities. But did you know that you can also rent one? And that tourists love them? But driving a Trabant is not the only way to get in touch with the past: visiting the House of Terror is equally “fulfilling”. The House takes you back to the communist era and lets you explore the dark side of 20th century Hungary.
- ROSS EVERETT: THE HIDDEN SECRET BENEATH BUDAPEST
Ross Everett was fired, so what did he do? Travelled! Ross explored Budapest as well, and made a video featuring the city’s night life, pálinka, Unicum, goulash (in this case it rather seems to be a stew, though), beautiful girls, and the huge cave system beneath the city.
- DAMON AND JO: BUDAPEST
Damon and Jo’s video is unique because it does not really feature popular tourist sites but mentions the history of Buda and Pest, wonders about the 5000 HUF note, and has a longer elevator ride. It may not be among the most popular videos, but it’s certainly worth watching to get some interesting information about the city.
- KATIE MCDONNELL: BUDAPEST CITY BREAK
Katie’s video is like a typical girls night out as told by a couple of BFFs. It shows the girly side of the city, one that is rarely featured in videos.
- STUDY ABROAD TRAVEL VLOG: NO REST IN BUDAPEST
Getting here at dawn and walk around the city without any sleep? No problem! The girls’ pronunciation of Buda and Pest is quite good, and it turns out that the Buda Castle is only “a really large building.” Great sights, great music, happiness, and as the title says: no rest in Budapest!
- EARLS TAKE EUROPE: BUDAPEST HONEYMOON
Who wouldn’t want to travel through Europe on their honeymoon? Well, a newlywed couple achieved their dream, and Budapest became one of their favourite destinations. They tried many things that are not typically mentioned in videos, such as the cinnamon chimney cake (kürtőskalács), BuBi (the bicycle sharing network of Budapest), and realized how clean Budapest is.
+1. JUMP ROPE GIRL
Although it’s not a vlog, but the video shows all the important tourist sights in the background while Adrienn Bánhegyi, one of the world’s best rope jumpers is showing off her amazing skills.
