Eyewitness claims piece from Hungarian airliner fell over Budapest residential district

An eyewitness reportedly spotted a gold-yellow fragment falling from a plane, swept by yesterday’s gale-force winds over the PestszentlÅ‘rinc cemetery before landing somewhere near the Gloriett estate in a densely populated garden suburb of Budapest. Yet inspections of the Hungary Airlines aircraft involved revealed no irregularities.

Piece of Hungarian airliner fell on Budapest residential district?

According to Airportal, the Hungary Airlines cargo flight took off from Budapest airport amid the strong winds when, an eyewitness claimed, a gold-yellow part broke away. The aircraft landed safely in Zhengzhou, where it was immediately examined post-touchdown—but nothing was found, ruling out any damage or malfunction.

Hungary Airlines, meanwhile, thanked the tip-off and added that it values every responsible and vigilant report that bolsters aviation safety.

Fewer flights to Qatar from April

Runway refurbishment at Doha’s Hamad International Airport will mean fewer flights to the Qatari capital between 13 April and 13 June. Qatar Airways is trimming frequencies not just on the Budapest route but across others too. From the Hungarian capital, planes will fly only five times weekly instead of seven.

Booking systems show no flights on Mondays or Saturdays during this period, save for one Monday (1 June) and one Saturday (30 May).

The works will cut Qatar Airways’ seat capacity by an average of 8.2 per cent, though some routes—such as Paris or London—could see reductions topping 20 per cent.
