Budapest makes top five in new budget-friendly winter getaway ranking

With winter around the corner, has there ever been a better time to start planning your next getaway? Traveling throughout winter can be magical, allowing tourists to experience new cultures without the usual busyness of summer.

However, it can be challenging to find a destination that is both suitable and budget-friendly. Luckily there are some great options dotted around Europe, offering the chance for a memorable but financially sensible trip.

That’s why DiscoverCars.com has completed its latest annual ranking of the best winter getaway destinations. This is the third year in a row they have completed this investigation – doing so in both 2021 and 2022.

Their data revealed that Budapest ranked as the fifth-best destination for a budget-friendly winter getaway. In total, the Hungarian capital city received a score of 29 out of 50 points, improving from 2022’s findings when the city ranked in sixth place.

Budapest is home to 807 cheap restaurants, offering visitors on a budget plenty of options. Additionally, the cost of a week-long hotel stay is priced at £505.27 on average while rental vehicles are available for £174.43.
