Budapest nightclub murder with bare hands: the perpetrator’s father shared chilling suspicion

According to the father of the accused, László A. was a devoted fiancé and father who endured an unbearable trauma this past summer. This might explain the savage attack outside Morrison’s 2 that resulted in the death of 25-year-old Gábor Dominik Fördős. The victim’s parents will be able to view the CCTV footage at the police station next week, but preliminary revelations already shed light on what happened and how exactly Dominik died.

A tragedy in the heart of Budapest

Two Saturdays ago, word spread like wildfire across the country of a brutal assault on a 25-year-old outside Morrison’s 2 late at night. Despite doctors’ efforts, the young man tragically died after being taken to hospital.

Since then, previously unknown facts about the tragedy have come to light:

  • Initially, doctors suspected the victim died from an untreated blunt force trauma sustained in the fall, but it is now apparent he suffered a broken neck vertebra and a severed blood vessel to the brain;
  • The force of the impact was such that his head was thrown back at almost a right angle;
  • The accused claims he was only joking, but when the victim confronted him, he responded with what he called “pre-emptive strikes”;
  • According to the victim’s father, his son was simply trying to help a girl who may have attracted the assailant’s attention — possibly the source of the conflict;
  • There was no indication of any prior conflict — the two men were strangers.

A powerless victim struck with devastating force

Dr Ferenc Levente Rab, deputy spokesperson for the Budapest Chief Prosecutor’s Office, told Blikk that CCTV footage clearly reveals what happened on that dreadful night:

  • The victim approaches the attacker calmly, hands behind his back;
  • László A. first delivers a hook punch with his weaker left hand (his right hand is injured, confirmed by his supervisor);
  • The victim becomes incapacitated, visibly struggling to keep his balance;
  • Seconds later, László strikes his head again;
  • The second blow sends the victim’s head snapping backwards, likely causing the fractured vertebra;
  • Finally, Gábor Dominik Fördős collapses, completely helpless.

The argument may have started over a girl

According to Blikk, the victim had been with a girl who possibly injured her ankle. The accused approached her, presumably to introduce himself, which the victim evidently did not appreciate.

The perpetrator’s father also spoke to Blikk by phone. József A. described his son as a loving partner and father to their five-year-old boy. Despite assumptions that strong punches can only come from robust physiques, the released photos show László may be slimmer even than the victim.

“I deeply regret what happened to the victim’s family and my son as well — he certainly never intended to kill anyone,” József said. He added that his son suffered severe trauma during the summer: while in a car with his stepfather, mother, and son, his stepfather had a heart attack that caused the car to crash into a bus, killing both the mother and stepfather.

Could the victim have insulted the recently deceased mother?

József also alleged that security guards of the Budapest nightclub beat his son following the incident, leaving one eye grotesquely swollen and his ribs injured.

While he does not excuse his son’s actions, József speculates to Blikk that the victim may have insulted his recently deceased mother, provoking the violent reaction.

László A. is no longer charged with causing death by bodily harm but with murder and remains in pre-trial detention.
