Bus accident on Budapest’s airport road leaves 27 injured – PHOTOS
A bus accident on the road from central Budapest to Liszt Ferenc International Airport overnight left 27 passengers injured, eight of them seriously, the communications director on the Hungarian Ambulance Service said on Tuesday.
Of the eight passengers seriously hurt, most suffered injuries to the head. None are in a life-threatening condition, he said.
A bus with Ukrainian license plates rammed into a height limit gate ahead of an underpass, which “as good as shaved off” the roof of the vehicle, a spokesman of the disaster management authority said.
The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident as part of a criminal procedure.
Police take bus driver in airport road accident into custody
A 52-year-old Ukrainian man who drove the bus which crashed on the road from central Budapest to Liszt Ferenc International Airport overnight was taken into custody on Tuesday morning, the police website said.
The police are proposing the pre-trial detention of the man.
