Bus crash tragedy in Italy – Foreign minister: Bus crash not caused by technical problem
Budapest, January 24 (MTI) – The recent bus crash near Verona in which 16 Hungarians died does not appear to have been caused by a technical problem, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó told MTI on Tuesday.
Szijjártó added that the Italian police had not seen any tyre marks on the road at the site of last Friday’s accident, nor survivors had reported any unusual developments in the few minutes before the crash.
Â
Concerning the two survivors who were hospitalised in Verona in critical condition, Szijjártó said that one of them could be returned to Hungary in 7 to 10 days if he further recovers.
Szijjártó also said that identification of the victims takes longer than expected, and the results may be delayed by a few days. He added that the victims’ remains will be brought to Hungary once those results are obtained and Italian authorities issue the necessary permits.

@Peter,
Your not an investigator, but a politician. Leave the investigating to the investigators. We don’t need your opinions to draw poor early conclusions. It doesn’t help the victims families. All that is quoted from Peter here is part of some of the things that were mentioned in the media early. What about the fire in the wheel well area before the crash the truck driver noticed as the bus passed him? That sounds ‘technical’ to me…
