Coronavirus – Chaos rules the Hungarian doctor’s offices
The Hungarian Government started to ease the restrictions, and from May 5 the countryside of Hungary began to reborn. Although restrictions remain in Budapest and Pest County, the Hungarian healthcare services also started to restore their usual policies. Unfortunately, more than the acceptable number of people appeared at the doctors’ offices.Â

24.hu reported that Hungarian healthcare institutions got permission to deal with cases that are not urgent, but only patients with a confirmed negative coronavirus test are allowed to see the doctor. Many rushed to the healthcare institutions, but many were turned away because they did not bring negative tests with them. According to the Government, the high number of people who decided to visit the doctor is risky and dangerous as it makes social distancing difficult.Â
Chaos rules the doctor’s offices as all of them broadcast different information. Some allow patients to enter without a test, some say that this week a test is not necessary, but from next week it is mandatory. Furthermore, patients can only visit if the examination is a must. In other cases, problems must be reported over the phone. Â
In some places, there are tents where patients receive masks, and doctors check their temperature before entering the building. On the other hand, otolaryngology and dermatologist offices keep the doors closed; some of them only allow a limited amount of patients in urgent cases, and the doctor decides the necessity of a test over the phone.
The Government asks every Hungarian citizen to call the doctor’s office before appearing personally and let the healthcare workers decide whether the visit is necessary or can be postponed to avoid massive crowds.Â
