Coronavirus – PM Orbán: “If everyone works together, no further measures will be needed”

After Tuesday’s announcement of restrictive measures to combat an escalation in coronavirus infections, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video on Facebook today that the operative board in charge of combatting the epidemic assessed hospital capacity early this morning, taking into account the number of beds, staff and ventilators.

The prime minister added he had given instructions to the authorities in charge of enforcing the government’s measures to make sure that citizens abide by the new restrictions.

“If everyone works together and abides by the rules, current restrictions will be sufficient and no further measures will be needed”.

Concerning a cabinet meeting starting this morning, Orbán said the innovation and technology minister and the finance minister will present reports on the government’s action plan to protect the economy.

“While we’re taking preventive action against the virus the country must keep going and the economy must stay functional,”

he said. “I want to keep my promise to create as many new jobs as the virus eliminates,” Orbán added.
