Calculation Price Tag For A New Spring Collection

Spring is coming so it’s time to renew the wardrobe! In case you wish to have unique and brand new clothes in excellent quality you can choose from “the sky’s the limit” categories. When the focus is primarily on having brand new items you can face with a total sum of 30.000 forints. If we are not fastidious and gladly get dressed with second hand ones we can refresh our wardrobe from 10.000 forints and it will still be unique, hvg.hu reports. Let’s see the possibilities.

As soon as the sun comes out around March, the second thing each woman suddenly realizes that she has nothing to wear. Actually, the first thing is to be realized: the sun is already shining! Winter clothes look too old and shabby in the sharp sunlight and we feel a bit uncomfortable in black and grey fabrics which swallow the sunbeams. Even those who are not considered “shopaholic” start to hunt some light dresses around this time. By now the new collection is expected to have pushed out the standard and discounted items from the shelves thus the shoppers can better be attracted by the colorful and eye-catching new products.

According to hvg.hu, one of our experiences of our shopping tour is that there is no gender equality in clothing stores. Generally men are forced to dress more expensively than women. We could find only one place (namely the C&A) with fair prices both for women and men.

We tested some second-hand stores, shopping centers and luxury malls. Let’s take a look at their products and prices

The perfect choice: cheap and unique second-hand

The best places to find a good-quality second hand store in Budapest are around the Király and Nagymező Streets. Clothes are hanged up on coat-stands here, they are not smelling and each item has its own price. Naturally, it’s a bit more expensive since you enjoy a more civilized atmosphere missing the rummaging among the smelly amount of dresses priced at 2500 forints per kilograms. Our first stop was the Second chance store at the centre of Király Street which was opened about a year ago. The cheapest T-shirt in vivid colors that we found here was priced at HUF 990, a pink pair of jeans that was trendy in the last season cost HUF 2290, a squared mini skirt was HUF 1690, whereas a still fashionable leatherette jacket was HUF 7990 in the female department. A light blue or check patterned shirt can be obtained under five thousand forints in the men’s department depending on its trademark: a Van Laack shirt is HUF 3990, a Brooksfield is HUF 4990 and a noname one is little more than 2000 forints. Moreover, prices for men’s jeans start from 3990 forints and patterned T-shirts can be bought from HUF 1290.

The Gardrob store – at the corner of Király and Vasvári Pál streets – aims to sell goods which were selected by the excellent taste of the owner, and not to offer the quickly changed branded – Next, Topshop etc. – oversized average clothes of richer western shoppers. On our request the owner selected a turquoise Mochino jacket for HUF 8690, then a pair of shoes that goes perfectly well with the jacket for HUF 5790 and a flower-patterned pair of jeans for 2890 forints. Moreover, we found a handbag for 2690 forint from those that are so fashionable now. Well, we can also obtain pretty clothes under HUF 4000 probably in the most famous second-hand store in Nagymező street.

In conclusion: we can stylishly fresh up our closet from used but good-quality clothes for about 15.000-20.000 forints.

Ready-made clothes from shopping malls

International clothing companies located in the malls differ from each other only in their prices. While C&A is the cheapest, Zara is the most expensive “Made in Far East” company. There’s no big difference in the quality, however, Zara clothes are carefully tailored and professionally copied from luxury designers’ collections. C&A is focusing on selling goods that can be described as fashionable for people with lower budget. Maybe for this reason they invented and sell the jeggings, which is a mixture of jeans and leggings, for HUF 4590. Besides jeggings the C&A company sells leatherette jackets for HUF 9990, female and male sweaters for 4590 forints and actually, their denim offer is still slim-cut type and costs 5990 forints. Moreover, men could find t-shirts and jeans for 1990 and 5590 forints here.

Interestingly, the H&M Company is not interested in the sex-equality at all. While female denims are available from 2990 forints and sweaters for HUF 6990, jeans and sweaters for men cost 9990 and 8990 forints, a male T-shirt can be bought for 1990 forints.
The beige or black trench coat which is similar to the Burberry’s one is available in all stores. It costs the same (HUF 12.990) at H&M and at Camaieu but with different buttons. Colorful denims cost HUF 6995 while sweaters are available from 5995 forints here. Although Bershka has girlish and more hipster products, the prices are similar to the other stores: leatherette jacket is HUF 12995, female slim pair of jeans is HUF 5995, and the same for men is 7995 forints. Approximately two thousand forints more is paid for each product in Orsay shops which lack the male department: Trench coats can be bought for HUF 14995, trousers for HUF 8995, jumpers for 4995 forints. Surprisingly, positive discrimination for men can be noticed in ready-to-wear clothes, because men could get new clothes cheaper than women in Zara boutique. While jeans and shirts for women cost nearly 15000 forints, the same for men cost only 8995 and 7995 forints. The beige trench coat with belt mentioned above is the most expensive, costs HUF 25.595 here.

With respect to the above figures we can count on spending minimum 30.000 forints, however if we can throw even HUF 40.000 we can obtain a new item from every type of clothing.

Flying millions at Il Bacio di Stile

We played to be rich and have a lot of money, so we entered the Il Bacio di Stile store with the editor’s Chihuahua in our hands and wearing Police sunglasses that we bought for 20 Shekel at Tel-Aviv market. The reason for behaving so was that the company promised at their big opening to offer the most famous products of the fashion houses at the best price. It was a Valentino skirt that our eyes caught first. The price for this Italian branded skirt is 1.190.000 Hungarian forints, of course! There are cheaper items, too: for example a white, quilted jacket was on sale at 150.000 forints from its original price of HUF 350.000!

A Michael Kors dress costs HUF 189.900, a Pinko cardigan is HUF 85.900 and Chloé denim costs 49.900 forints. The above mentioned Moschino jacket from the new collection is HUF 102.000. We saw a Ralph Laurent sweater, too for HUF 117.000, Canali trousers for 56.900 forints and a spring coat for about 588.900 forints at the male department of the store.

Evidently, a few hundred thousand forints is not enough for new clothes in high-quality fashion stores, you almost have to be a millionaire to do the shopping there!
