Italy motorway police see human error behind Hungary bus crash

Rome, March 3 (MTI) – Local Italian police think that the bus crash in which 16 Hungarians died near Verona on January 20 was caused by a human error, Verona’s Polstrada chief told MTI on Friday.

Girolamo Lacquaniti ruled out technical problems with the vehicle which crashed into a pylon and caught fire and said that the driver may have been sick or fallen asleep.

Italian state prosecutor Angela Barbaglio told MTI that the driver, who suffered serious injuries and has been in a coma since the crash, is suspected of being responsible for the accident. The prosecutor added that reports by various experts were being evaluated, after which a decision would be made concerning legal proceedings.
