Debrecen University asks African students to stay put
Budapest, October 17 (MTI) – The leadership at Debrecen University in east Hungary has asked African students studying at the institution not to travel home during the Christmas break for fear bringing back the Ebola virus.
The university’s chancellor, Zoltan Szilvassy, told a news conference on Friday that the request was a preventative measure based on the latest report by the World Health Organisation which says that the number of deaths linked to the virus has reached five thousand, and estimates suggest that this number could multiply ten times in half a year.
He added that of the students who come from areas affected by Ebola in Hungary, most of them, altogether 740, attend Debrecen University.
