DIGI fined for ambiguous customer communication

Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) on Friday said it fined telecommunications company DIGI HUF 111m for communicating tariff increases in an ambiguous manner.

In communication with subscribers late in 2022, DIGI failed to clarify that it was rolling out not one, but two separate tariff increases, one linked to inflation, while giving the false impression that customers with loyalty contracts were shielded from the change.

DIGI acknowledged the violation and forfeited its right of appeal. It also pledged to offer rebates to affected subscribers.
