DK opposition calls for parliament to condemn aggression against Ukraine
Budapest, February 18 (MTI) – Lawmakers of the leftist opposition Democratic Coalition have proposed that parliament should issue a political declaration condemning the aggression against Ukraine.
Csaba Molnar, the party’s deputy leader, reacted to yesterday’s working visit by Vladimir Putin, saying that on a recent visit to Kiev, Prime Minister Viktor Orban failed to condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine, and in Budapest on Tuesday he “eagerly clutched the killer’s hand”.
The party will formally submit the proposal to parliament on Thursday.
In response, ruling party Fidesz said in a statement that Hungary sided with peace in the Ukrainian crisis and condemned all aggression. It urges the swiftest possible settlement of relations between the European Union and Russia with special regard to the safety of ethnic Hungarians in western Ukraine.
