Political director Orbán talked about “the Hungarian grand strategy” at Balaton festival
The essence of “the Hungarian grand strategy” is to defend the country and Christian culture from attacks, while guaranteeing peace and development for the Hungarian people, the prime minister’s political director said at the Tranzit Festival in Tihany, at lake Balaton, on Friday.
Balázs Orbán discussed the most important objectives of the nation and Hungary’s strategic issues at a podium discussion with lawyer András Schiffer, a founder of opposition LMP and former MP.
Orbán said “the Hungarian grand strategy” also involved a programme for modernisation, maintaining sovereignty and connectivity. The latter enabled Hungary to become a more developed country, building connections in many areas and in many directions in order to achieve its own national goals, he added.
Schiffer said the priority issue in terms of sovereignty was to have competitive production capacities, with Hungary suffering from dependence on global supply chains. He added that energy independence must also be further enhanced.
Orbán said Hungary’s economy was able to react quickly and well to global economic changes and the country was among the leaders in the EU in terms of renewable energy use.
