Fatal car crash at Károly körút – shocking video
The police published a shocking video about the car crash on Sunday night at Károly körút. The 17-year-old driver lost his life immediately, and a 14-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The 17-year-old driver had no driving licence, and was most likely driving over the maximum speed limit, Telex reported. After a right turn, the car went off-road and crashed into an electric pole near Astoria.
About the driver
The 17-year-old driver, Attila starred at a Hungarian talent show called Kismenők. Despite his outstanding talent, Attila had a tough time growing up, Bors Online says. He first appeared in Kismenők talent show on TV2 where his voice made a huge impression on the Hungarian audience, as well as on celebrities participating in the show.
Attila’s father was out of town, and his mother could not be with him either, so he was staying with some relatives. On the night of the accident, he attended a party, from where he wanted to take his friend home with an old car – that was allegedly in poor condition –, even though he did not own a driving license. They were tired and in a hurry, crossed the speed limit, and at Károly körút, Astoria, crashed into an electric pole. The car completely broke, and Attila lost his life on the scene, despite all ambulance effort. His friend survived – which seems miraculous, considering the tragic accident – and was taken to hospital in critical condition.
On Sunday night, Attila’s relatives all gathered at the scene of the accident. He had a big and loving family, who are now grieving the terrible loss of the young boy, hoping that at least his friend will recover very soon.
His family and friends claim the gossips that people started spreading on the internet are not true – Attila did not consume any alcohol before the accident happened. What lead to the fatal crash, however, is yet to be investigated by experts; it is not known for example, whether the driver and his passenger used seatbelts or not. The Traffic Department of Budapest Metropolitan Police (BRFK) pursues criminal prosecutions on a car accident caused by negligence.
