FBI comes to Hungary to cooperate with police
The police have taken into custody a man suspected of burglary, in cooperation with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), police told a press conference on Thursday.
On January 23 last year, two men armed with baseball bats entered a flat in Miskolc, in northern Hungary, Police Lieutenant Colonel Gábor Bodnár said. They locked the resident of the flat in the bathroom and took 19,000 euros, perfumes and watches, then left the crime scene through a window, he said.
The police identified and arrested one of them soon after, and issued an international arrest warrant against the other, he said.
Police contacted the Hungarian attache of the FBI when suspicion arose that the man could be hiding in the US. He was taken into custody in New York last December, Deputy Attache Lance Rollins said.
