Fidesz nominates new MEP following resignation of politician amid assault scandal
Ruling Fidesz is nominating Csaba Dömötör, a state secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, for the MEP post of Balázs Győrffy, who resigned at the end of August, the party said on Friday.
Dömötör was an aide to the Fidesz delegation in Brussels before becoming a lawmaker in 2018 and state secretary in 2015, the statement said.
As we reported earlier, Győrffy, a high-profile MEP from Orbán’s Fidesz party and member of the Patriots for Europe, has resigned after admitting to an outrageous act of violence: the MEP confessed to assaulting a woman while heavily intoxicated.
