Fidesz supports plaza construction ban
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary’s ban on new shopping centres should be maintained, Antal Rogan, group leader of ruling Fidesz told a press conference on Sunday, in connection with a law President Janos Ader recently returned to Parliament for reconsideration.
Rogan said that his party’s deputies would consider the president’s objections, but added that Fidesz “would not want that the construction of shopping malls to resume after January 1”.
Rogan also said that international companies should be prevented from taking profits generated in Hungary from the country, and urged legislation to ensure that such companies pay taxes in Hungary rather than in another country through their subsidiaries.
Deputies of Fidesz and the allied Christian Democrats will boycot an opposition-initiated extraordinary session of parliament to discuss proposed changes to the road toll system on Tuesday, Rogan said, and called the initiative a “political farce”.
