Fidesz: ‘We mustn’t dance to Brussels elite’s tune on Ukraine EU entry’
“We must not dance to the tune of the Brussels elite on the issue of Ukraine’s European Union accession,” ruling Fidesz’s group leader said on Wednesday.
In a parliamentary debate on a draft resolution concerning Ukraine’s EU membership submitted by the ruling parties, Kocsis said the European Commission’s proposal on Ukraine’s accession was ill-considered and untimely.
He said there were several questions left to be answered in connection with Ukraine’s membership, noting that the country was at war and it was currently impossible to tell whether its legal system was in line with the constitutional structure expected of EU member states.
Kocsis said the draft resolution made it clear that “Hungary must not jump irresponsibly into this adventure”.
“Here is another issue on which we can’t dance to the tune of the Brussels elite,” he said. “We need consensus rather than imperial directives, but this is missing in Europe today.”

Has either the EU or US thought about the word “peace”?
Many EU and US citizens are protesting in support of Gazans and a cease fire, yet cease fire never mentioned regarding Ukrainian/Russian war. Are lives of Ukrainians worth less than those of Palestinians in Gaza?
Every cent given for Ukraine’s war effort is a support for a loss of Ukrainian life and destruction of another part of Ukraine.
In a war of attrition, it is the country with larger population that is ahead. There is no way, Ukraine can win a war of attrition against Russia unless the whole of EU, NATO declares war and send soldiers to the disputed areas.
Extending the war in Ukraine or even attacking Russia will not work, especially in the winter. Napoleon and Hitler learned that lesson.
Ukraine should not be allowed to join the EU but made into a Neutral State. That should save the face of EU and US politicians and keep the EU and NATO at arm’s length from Russia.
It is time for the EU to follow Hungary’s suggestion and establish peace. Prime Minister Orban, as usual, is correct.
