GUIDE@HAND Film Destination Budapest, the very first Hungarian Film-tourism application, was developed by means of professional cooperation of the Institute for Computer Science and Control of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the creative team of Filmdestination.hu.

The Hungarian film miracle. How Budapest became one of the most popular filming destination of the world

The filming miracle has become possible in Budapest due to a lot of different components. Film spends in Hungary exceed two and a half times the European average. The main cause is the extremely favorable state tax incentive system making the Hungarian film industry one of the most competitive ones in the world.  Professional traditions, generally good public security and fast-growing professional infrastruc­ture together contribute to the fact that the Hungarian film industry increased its earnings twenty times in 15 years. Today, as a result of the filming boom, ten thousand filmmakers are availa­ble to foreign partners in Hungary.

Thanks to the experience gained in international competition the renewed Hungarian film produc­tion system resulted two Oscar winner films:

– Son of Saul – best foregin language movie of 2016,

– Sing – best short movie of 2017
