Flood in Hungary: Margaret Island to be accessible today
From noon on Tuesday, Margaret Island will be open to the public after completing a post-flood safety assessment, Budapest’s mayor Gergely Karácsony said on Facebook.
He added that experts examined tree and soil stability, and several measures were taken to ensure safety on the island.
Recently, experts from the FÅ‘kert have been testing the stability of the trees. They looked for tilting and shifting that could indicate an accident hazard. At the same time, the soil was also examined for signs of soil erosion. The work has now been completed, and Margaret Island can now be opened in complete safety.
