Pay attention! Fraudsters try to sell Budapest tickets and passes!
Tickets and passes for public transport in Budapest can only be purchased at official sales points or online. Recently, BKK has received several reports of fraudsters posing as employees of the company in busy public spaces in Budapest. On several occasions, the scammers tried to trick unsuspecting users by offering them tickets or passes for sale at reduced prices. BKK would like to draw attention to the fact that the company does not sell products in this way, they can only be purchased at official sales points displayed in the BKK Sales Point Finder or online, for example through the convenient BudapestGO application.
BKK Centre for Budapest Transport has recently received several reports of fraudsters posing as BKK or BKV employees trying to cheat passengers in the city. The scammers have appeared in the vicinity of busy transport hubs and offered to sell various fare products, such as tickets and passes, at extremely low prices. In many cases, the fraudsters did not hand over anything at all to the victims, on other occasions they handed over invalid tickets or passes to unsuspecting victims, bkk.hu wrote.
BKK urges its customers to exercise extreme caution when purchasing tickets and passes, and to purchase fare products only through official sales channels, such as the BudapestGO app or in person at the locations indicated by the BKK Sales Point Finder, in order to avoid becoming victims of fraud.
Better be careful at the airport too
Tickets for the 100E Airport Express, which provides fast and convenient transport between Liszt Ferenc Airport and the city centre, continue to be available at the usual sales outlets and are not be sold by mobile vendors at the airport or elsewhere in the city. Airport shuttlebus tickets can be purchased in the BudapestGO app, at BKK Customer Service Centres, and on the 100E buses you can also pay the fare directly by bankcard using the on-board Budapest Pay&GO devices. More information about Budapest Pay&GO can be found on the BKK website.

Honestly, how incredibly DUMB do you have to be to purchase a bus or subway ticket from some random person–I don’t care who he/she says they are–when there’s a ticket machine a few feet away from you!?!
It’s like getting your cash from a hobo outside a bank instead of using an A.T.M. inside.
Can’t fix stupid…
