Free parking comes in Budapest next week
It has become a tradition that parking becomes free at Christmas in Budapest. Here is what you need to know about the measure.
According to Infóstart, 23 December (next Saturday) will be a holiday, so you will not have to pay for parking at places where you must on weekdays. According to BKK, paking will be free in Budapest from the morning of 24 December until the evening of 1 January.
But you should know that there are some exceptions. In the 1st district (Castle District), you will have to pay for the parking on Dísz Square (near the Fisherman’s Bastion) and the Hunyadi János Street between the Szabó Ilonka Street and the Dísz Square. Moreover, parking will be charged on Palota Street between the Dísz Square and Lovas Street. Finally, you will have to pay at the Northern parking lot of Margaret Island and the parking places of the hotels there.
Parking will also be free between the two holidays in Pécs. That means you will not have to pay for parking from 1 PM on 23 December until 8 AM on 2 January.
