Freezing temperatures and bitter cold weather to sweep across Hungary this week

As we know from the forecast of HungaroMet Ltd., the weather in Hungary will yet again show its many faces. The weather will be variable this week, we can also expect rain and snow. At dawn, the temperature will crawl under minus 10 degrees Celsius for several days. The weather will be slightly warmer in the second half of the week.

Monday

As PĂ©nzcentrum has also reported, Monday will be mostly sunny in the northern areas. In the southern counties, it will be mostly cloudy and hazy. However, clouds will spread to the north in the afternoon. In the south, there is a very high chance of rain. In addition, we can also expect sleet, even snow in the afternoon. Northwest winds will increase in the northeast of the country, becoming gusty in places. Daytime highs will range between 1 and 7 degrees.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the sky will be cloudy in the southern parts of the country. There may be some snow, then during the day, there will be a few clouds and sunny weather. Winds from the northwest and west will increase in many areas. Overnight lows will be between -10 and -1 degrees Celsius. Thus, it is time to layer your outfit and bury yourself in a big warm sweater! Highs will be between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius.

Wednesday

The morning will be slightly cloudy with mostly clear skies and increasing clouds from the southwest during the day. In the afternoon and evening, rain and snow showers are possible in the northeastern counties. Gusty winds are to be expected in the North Transdanubian region. At dawn, we can expect -12 to -3 degrees Celsius and, 1–7 degrees Celsius in the early afternoon. The best we can do is to stay indoors with a cup of hot tea and admire the snowy scenery from the window.

Thursday

On Thursday, anticipate predominantly cloudy or overcast skies. The gloomy skies will be coupled with the prospect of rain or scattered showers dispersed across various locales. Notably, the likelihood of precipitation amplifies in the northeastern region of the country. The southwesterly breeze is poised to intensify across multiple areas, transitioning into a gusty demeanour at specific locations, eventually adopting a northwesterly direction as the evening unfolds. Expect minimum temperatures to range between minus 1 and 7 degrees Celsius, gradually ascending to a general range of 10 to 17 degrees Celsius come early afternoon. However, in the northeastern counties, temperatures are slated to hover around 5 degrees Celsius in certain spots.

Friday

Friday is poised to unfold beneath a canopy of clouds or overcast conditions, gradually shedding its cloud cover as the day progresses. Anticipate the potential for snow showers in diverse regions. A heightened prevalence is also expected in the southern and eastern parts of Hungary. A robust northwesterly to northerly breeze is forecasted, asserting its strength across many areas. Temperature wise, the day will commence between minus 4 and 1 degree Celsius in the morning. However, it will gradually ascend to a more pleasant range of 0 to 5 degrees Celsius in the early afternoon.

Saturday

Moving on to Saturday, the forecast paints a picture of predominantly cloudy skies interspersed with moments of sunshine and a blissful absence of precipitation. However, brace yourself for potent northerly winds in select locales, featuring gusty bursts. The temperature spectrum on Saturday will most likely span from -10 to -3 degrees Celsius at dawn, gradually moderating to a range between minus 1 and plus 4 degrees Celsius in the early afternoon.

Sunday

Sunday unfolds with an anticipated amalgamation of mostly cloudy conditions interspersed with welcome spells of sunshine, and a noteworthy absence of precipitation. Moreover, a noticeable shift in the wind direction is on the horizon, veering towards the west and southwest, gaining strength in various locales. Temperature wise, prepare for a chillier dawn with readings ranging between -12 and -4 degrees Celsius, gradually moderating to a relatively milder spectrum of minus 1 to plus 4 degrees Celsius in the early afternoon.
