Fuel shortage has already reached the big cities of Hungary!

According to the Association of Independent Petrol Stations, there are supply problems at small petrol stations in 105 locations across the country. Szigetszentmiklós, Szentendre, Budakeszi, Maglód – the fuel shortage has already reached the big cities near Budapest.

As we have written about it before, experts warned about a serious fuel shortage in Hungary this week, as MOL left around 250 petrol stations without fuel.

The Oranges Oil Company next to Tesco wrote on Facebook: “MOL Nyrt. suspended the supply of fuel to our company from 20 November, so we were forced to limit the supply of fuel sold at the official price. At the official price, we limit the quantity that can be purchased for the same registration number on the same calendar day to 3 liters. This means that we can refund the difference between the official and market price up to a maximum of 3 liters of fuel, we will charge the amount above that at the market price.”

The price caps cause huge losses to smaller petrol stations

As a result of the measure announced this week, the owners of the small petrol stations do not receive fuel from MOL. Thus, the fuel supply of smaller settlements may be in serious danger. Small filling stations cannot close, because then they lose their license. Managers of small petrol stations have drawn attention countless times to the fact that, in their opinion, the time has come to end official-priced fuel.
