FUNNY: New plans underway to revamp notorious Budapest district?
Orlando (@orli.fans) is a Mexican vlogger living in Budapest. He is mainly known for his funny videos about Hungary, Hungarian traditions, and his experiences living in Hungary as a Mexican. A few days ago, he posted a video on Instagram suggesting a “great plan” for making Józsefváros (the 8th district of Budapest) the Venice of the Hungarian capital. To everyone’s surprise, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony and Józsefváros Mayor András Pikó reacted to the amazing idea.
“Look, this building is all run down, however, it’s beautiful because it’s Venice. So I propose to flood the entire 8th district, and we would live in a beautiful place like this! You know, like this could be the 8th district if it had water. So, this is my proposal for @piko_andras, tag him, and I think that it’s feasible, we can start with Blaha Lujza tér (Blaha Lujza Square – ed.)”
One day after posting the above video, Orlando published another one, announcing happily that Pikó actually reacted to his idea:
“Guys, I am in Sienna, but I wanted to take a second to tell you that Pikó answered!” And then he reads out the mayor’s private message he received.
In the video, he mentions that Karácsony only liked his message, “so I guess he’s busy flooding the city”. Karácsony actually commented under this second video with two emojis: “🚣🌊”
Orlando concluded his video by saying “I said it once and I’ll say it again: Make Józsefváros Great Again!”
What do you think about this genius plan to make the 8th district of Budapest the Venice of the Hungarian capital? Let us know in the comments!
