Government decides on EUR 243m of railway investments in SE Hungary
Hungary’s government has decided to invest 74.6 billion forints (EUR 243m) in rail lines in south-east Hungary, János Lázár, the government office chief, told a weekly press briefing on Thursday.
A fast rail line will be established between Szeged and Szabadka (Subotica), in Serbia, and the line between Békéscsaba and Szeged will be upgraded, Lázár said. A tram-train line will be constructed between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely, he added.
The cabinet also decided to renovate rail lines between Százhalombatta and Pusztaszabolcs, as well as between Budapest and Hatvan, in central Hungary, in 2021-22, he said.
