Greenpeace says public hearing on Paks left ppen most important question
A public hearing on the location of new nuclear power station blocks in Paks has left open the most important question of how licencing was permitted to start in a project costing several thousand billions of forints without any social debate preceding it, Greenpeace said on Monday.
The environmental organisation said “the majority of the country’s residents do not support the project” and the public hearing was only “theatre” that had failed to discuss the real questions. A proper discussion cannot be held about Paks II without presenting background calculations and the project’s impact on the environment, the national economy and society, it added.
Slightly more than a hundred people attended the public hearing held at the Paks mayor’s office.
