If you love to swim but don’t love dried-out hair, then you have come to the right place. We will primarily be talking about swimmers’ shampoo or clarifying shampoo.
If you are looking for shampoo, then Trihard has a product for you. There’s a lot to understand and consider, so let’s dive in!
What is Swimmers Shampoo?
Swimming pools contain chlorine to keep algae and other bacteria from growing. You may notice after swimming that your hair is dried out or tangled for those with longer hair.
For consistent swimmers who may not wear a cap, such as lifeguards – your hair can thin and fall out. The chlorine strips the hair of its natural oils and conditioner, leading to a dry feeling. You may also experience some split ends.
Different swimmers shampoo have different properties. Essentially most swimmers’ shampoos will act as chlorine removal. Your conditioner can then grab onto your hair, and your natural oils can also build back up.
Some shampoos will also leave your hair hydrated and soft and remove excess salt and build-up.
How often should you use your Swimmers shampoo?
You may have known that people have different hair care routines. Many people wash their hair a few times a week or even once a week.
Every shampoo will be different. Trihard mentions that their shampoo works for 25-30 swim sessions. Meaning that if you wash your hair once with their product, you can have about 25 swim session and still have the product remove chlorine.
Not every shampoo will be like Trihard. Some are only meant after your swim. It is recommended to look at the instructions or how to use the product.
You can use swimmers shampoo as your primary shampoo, but it works just as well as a secondary. Some people have other shampoos they prefer, so we recommend having a maximum of two shampoos.
Too much product in your hair isn’t good, and you still need to condition if the product doesn’t have one.
