Hollywood blockbuster: Emma Stone hits Mark Ruffalo in Hungary!

Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo are the main protagonists of a Hollywood blockbuster shot in several Hungarian castles and studios.

Poor Things is an upcoming surrealist science-fiction romantic comedy film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay by Tony McNamara, based on the 1992 novel of the same title by Alasdair Gray. 24.hu wrote that it is a female adaptation of the Frankenstein story. It follows a young woman who, after being resurrected by an unorthodox scientist, lives a life free of the prejudices of her time. Emma Stone leads an ensemble cast that includes Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley, and Kathryn Hunter. Poor Things is scheduled to be released on 8 September 2023. Here are some photos:

Concerning the plot, we already know that Stone will be brought back to life by Dafoe. She is eager to learn, but his husband would never let her follow her dreams, so she escapes with Ruffalo to see the world. The movie is about multiple social issues like prejudices, gender equality and liberty.

The good news is that Lanthimos directed the movie in several Hungarian venues, including castles. We wrote HERE that a new Hungarian bill would give castles to even private individuals for free if the minister agrees.

Interestingly, Ruffalo is quite aware of Hungarian domestic politics. For example, in 2022, before the parliamentary elections, he told Hungarian voters to choose freedom, hope, inclusion and peace. Here is his tweet:
