This time the richest Hungarian billionaire’s company will renovate the Citadel in Budapest.
“This time, the consortium of ZÁÉV, which is owned by Lőrinc Mészáros, and Market, which belongs to the circles of István Garancsi, have been given a noble national project: they have to set up a flagpole in the closed area of the Citadel.” – writes hvg.hu.
The production of a multi-element, upwardly tapering flagpole of varying cross-section will be a noble task. The 35 meters high flagpole will hold the national flag with the parameters of 6×12. According to the plans, motor structure will pull the flag into place. The company is also responsible for the construction of the built-in motor. The flagpole will stand on a block of reinforced concrete, and related diagnostic tests will also be part of the project. While the deadline is within 1.5 years, the flagpole has to be made by 14 March.
The public procurement took place in an open procedure, but only the ZÁÉV-Market pair applied. The companies claim HUF 5.3 billion for the work (EUR 14,620,957).
The Castle Headquarters Communication Office (Várkapitányság Kommunikációs Irodája) told hvg.hu that the amount will cover all the preparatory exploration of the development area, the reconstruction of the walls of the fortress, and the set-up of the flagpole.
Only 2 per cent of the entire budget will go to the flagpole’s construction processes. This means that the flagpole will cost HUF 106 million (EUR 292,419).
This is not the first time that the Hungarian billionaire’s company accepts project work for such a high price. In our previous article, we wrote about the price of railway construction that left experts bewildered. The company was hired to do the expansion of railway tracks between Kelenföld and Ferencváros railway station.
The realistic price of the development would have been between HUF 30-50 billion (EUR 84,061,200 – 140,102,000). The company; however, agreed to do the work for HUF 338 billion (EUR 947,089,520). V-Híd Építő Zrt. is presumably linked to the richest Hungarian man, Lőrinc Mészáros. To read more about this subject, click HERE.
During the works, a more detailed diagnostics is possible. The situation of the subsurface of the rocks, the retaining wall and rock surface and the the possibility of floor lowering will be determined to make sure the works are done correctly.
The work covers the complete renovation of the Citadel.
During the wall reconstruction, the red limestone covers will also be rebuilt. Unfortunately, the stone structure of the fortification walls started to deteriorate on the surface, and according to tests, its strength also decreased. During restoration, the surface will be cleaned and weak, deteriorated parts will be removed. “The red limestone covers of Tardos are being rebuilt and replaced with new elements.” – writes magyarepitok.hu.
