Hungarian Cup: Videoton surprise Fradi with semi-final first-leg victory – VIDEO
The mlsz.hu said, Róbert Feczesin’s 42nd-minute goal gave Videoton a surprise 1-0 win away at Ferencváros in their Hungarian Cup semi-final 1st leg tonight. The former Hungarian striker capitalised on some uncertainty from Fradi goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz to nod a long pass over his opponent and into an empty net just before half-time.
Ferencváros midfielder Roland Lamah could still have equalised as the break approached but missed a seemingly unmissable opportunity in front of an open goal. The home team attacked for most of the second-half but Vidi’s possession game nullified the league leaders and that meant that they have a single-goal advantage to take back to Székesfehérvár ahead of the second leg.
According to mlsz.hu, in the other three quarter-finals, both third-tier clubs lost their first legs to NBI opponents, Újpest thrashing Tiszújváros 8-1 at the Megyeri úti stadium and Békéscsaba avoiding an upset by overcoming Kozármislény 2-1 at home. Debrecen, meanwhile, took a 2-1 lead home with beating their neighbours, Nyíregyháza, away 2-1 thanks to 37th-minute equaliser from Dusan Brkovic and an added-time winner from János Ferenczi.
