Hungarian director to shoot his new movie with Spiderman/Tom Holland
Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó has been working more and more with international superstars and well-known streaming service providers. He is currently switching Netflix to Apple and will be shooting with Tom Holland.
Mundruczó left Netflix for Apple TV+ to team up with Holland
Kornél Mundruczó, director of the White God, the Jupiter’s moon, and the Oscar-nominated Netflix series, Pieces of a Woman, will be the director of the first season of The Crowded Room, an anthology series for Apple TV+, writes forbes.hu.
Since making his debut in last year’s award season, Mundruczó – whose female protagonist Vanessa Kirby has been nominated for an Oscar – has caught pretty good wind on international waters: as in the Netflix film above, Martin Scorsese was one of the executive producers in his previous production Evolution, which was released last year; and just a couple of weeks ago, it was revealed that his upcoming sci-fi film Proxy would be starring Blake Lively (The Gossip Girl, The Shallows).
The stars of the series
One of the protagonists of The Crowded Room’s ten-part first season is none other than the latest Spider-Man, Tom Holland, who also starred in Cherry.
Along with the 46-year-old Hungarian director, Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, Mamma Mia!, Mank) has also joined the first season of the series, as one of the main characters.
The storyline
The Crowded Room tells stories from season to season that focus specifically on the lives of mentally ill patients, writes kreativ.hu. Akiva Goldman, who also won an Oscar for the screenplay for One Wonderful Mind, writes and straightens the series. He uses inspiration partly from his own life, partly from Daniel Keyes’s The Minds of Billy Milligan biographical novel.
The award-winning novel explores the life story of Billy Milligan, an American criminal:
Milligan was arrested for repeated armed robbery and rape in the 1970s and was the first person to be released on the grounds of a dissociative personality disorder so he did not have to a serve jail sentence. He will inspire Holland’s character Danny Sullivan.
Seyfried’s character will be called Rya: a clinical psychologist, a single mother who has to juggle both her complicated private life and the most difficult case in her career.
Release date to be announced soon.
