Hungarian house speaker meets with Croatian foreign minister
Budapest, February 2 (MTI) – Croatia is more than a neighbour; it is an important ally of Hungary’s in the region as well as within NATO and the European Union, parliamentary speaker László Kövér said on Tuesday at talks with Croatian Foreign Minister Miro Kovac, the speaker’s office said.
Kövér welcomed the new Croatian coalition’s decision to improve relations as a priority, the statement said, adding that the country is increasingly important as an economic partner.
Both politicians agreed that national minorities are integral to developing bilateral relations as well as improvements in economic opportunities.
Kovac confirmed that the Croatian government had a positive attitude towards ethnic Hungarians. Minorities in each country are important bridgeheads, he added.
