Tragedy: Hungarian man dies in road accident in Austria

A 45-year-old Hungarian man has tragically lost his life in a road accident in Austria, near the Hungarian border. The collision occurred on Thursday evening on the L307 road, between Halbturn (Féltorony) and Andau (Mosontarcsa), the Austrian police confirmed on Friday.
According to the police, the Hungarian man’s car had broken down on the Burgenland road. He and his 28-year-old passenger attempted to push the vehicle off the carriageway when a 20-year-old driver approaching from behind failed to see them and collided with their car, 24.hu reported.
The impact sent the 45-year-old man and his vehicle into a nearby field. Despite the efforts of his passenger, who tried to administer first aid at the scene, the driver was pronounced dead on site.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Eisenstadt (Kismarton) hospital for treatment.
Emergency services from Halbturn and Frauenkirchen responded to the scene with 25 firefighters and a crane vehicle. The L307 was closed in both directions while authorities investigate the exact circumstances of the accident.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
