Hungarian Nanushka gains fame in US

fashion success United States

Szandra Sándor is a Hungarian fashion designer, whose clothes are worn by celebrities in Hollywood. Now she was featured in the most famous fashion magazine, Vogue, due to her own ceramic designs, nlcafe.hu announces.

Szandra Sándor was born and raised in Budapest, and after graduating from the London College of Fashion she launched her brand Nanushka – using her own old nickname – in 2006 and this might as well marked the start of a flourishing Hungarian design-industry.

Nanushka clothes are designed in Budapest and produced in Europe, guaranteeing the best materials and quality.

Although the brand almost faced bankruptcy once, it is now more successful than ever under the leadership of Szandra, and Péter Baldaszti, her partner, co-owner, and CEO. They have a flagships store in Budapest and the collections are sold in over 30 countries, both in online shops and department stores, in addition to shipping worldwide to over 100 countries. Her latest successes involve opening a pop-up store in L.A.

Clothes and ceramics

This time the Vogue wrote about Szandra’s favourite ceramics – something she adores and collects.

Collaborating with the Noha ceramics studio, Szandra designed her own pieces,

and this caught the attention of the fashion magazine.

The ceramics bear her trademark shades, pastel pink, and earth colours, and according to Szandra’s plans, they will be available both in her store and online.

The Vogue also compiled a list of Szandra’s favourite stores, which range from the Herend Porcelain store on Andrássy út, through the Mobelkunst vintage furniture house, to the Ecseri Market.

Growing fame

The Hungarian brand recently made into the 12 best fashion brands in the world. US fashion experts included Nanushka among the brands that one should pay attention to this year. And what would illustrate this growing success better, than the Hollywood stars wearing Nanushka creations:

among them are Uma Thurman, Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift, Drew Barrymore and Charlize Theron, just to name a few.

The actress Aubrey Plaza, well-known for the series Parks and Recreation and several sit-coms, also wore a beautiful Nanushka creation, and not only did she post it on her Instagram but she also added the description: “Köszönöm”, that is Thank you, in Hungarian.

köszönöm @nanushka ?

The next, 2018 autumn-winter collection had a great reception at the New York Fashion Week, and the New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar and the Forbes also applauded the achievements of the Hungarian brand. We cannot wait to see how Nanushka will keep conquering the world.
